Sunday mornings are great for drinking coffee or tea in your pyjamas while listening to ICA-Belgium’s online Colour Talks!
On Sunday May 22nd 2022 from 10h till 11h CEST our guest was Anna Maria Nyk, specialised in colour and trend forecasting. She gave us an exclusive insight in the creative design process and how a colour forecast is developed.
Colour and trend forecasting behind the scenes: the creative design process.
Anna Maria Nyk is the owner of Nyk colour & design. She develops a colour trendbook for menswear twice a year. It is a colour forecast one and a half year ahead of the season. This trendbook offers new colours and colour combinations, a general overview of the season. It is based on filtered key information about styling directions as well as design and lifestyle trends. It is an useful inspiration tool for designers to develop their collections. Furthermore, she develops tailor-made programmes for customers.
In this presentation Anna Maria will give you an exclusive insight in the creative design process and how a colour forecast is developed. You will be led through the different stages step by step:
- deep research and collecting data
- analysing and filtering the information
- the Nyk colour kitchen
- the final selections and the outcome
The outcome is a physical or a digital product (or a hybrid one) for colour direction and colour use. The state of the art is to create – out of an abundance of information – a concrete and practical design tool.
Anna Maria Nyk is specialised in colour and trend forecasting. She was raised in a creative family business and she has 30+ years experience in men’s fashion. Her approach/style is determined and consistent, flexible and facilitating. Always with a creative mind and an eye for commercial application.
